Thank you to Maddi, Grace, Ruby, Holly, Jemma, Erin, Emily, Karly, Ashlee, Amy, Nadia and Chloe for

School Sports SA (Sapsasa) Year 6/7 Basketball carnival

Both teams played great basketball, displaying wonderful defensive and fantastic passing skills. The boys won 3/5 games, finishing third. The girls won 2/4 games, also finishing 3rd on the day. Thank you to Anthony, Sophie and Abbi who coached our teams in such positive, encouraging and supportive manners. I know the players listened to you and learnt a lot from you. Thanks also to our scorers and timekeepers – Linda, Amy, Brett, Bec and Sonia. You did a fabulous job and helped to make the coaches jobs that much easier. Lastly, thank you to the parents and adults who drove the students to the stadium and back and cheered us on, offering to help out and support both teams throughout the day. All of this adult support is invaluable and greatly appreciated, without it, Sapsasa events could not occur so successfully.

Student Leadership - Long Jump Pit committee

In 2019, Year 7 House Captains – Brandon, Jackson, Seb, Ruben and Amber – worked with Trina and their class teachers on their goal of gaining permission for, acquiring the funds and organising a long jump pit for our school to use. By the end of Term 4 2019, the Long Jump committee had achieved a great deal and were awaiting feedback from The Show Society about permission, location on the oval, etc. In 2020 Year 7 students Nadia, Jemma, Immy, Holly, Erin, Myah, Izzy, Chloe, Jasper, Karly, Maddi, Patrick and Kobi formed a long jump committee, met every Thursday Break 1, and continued on with this project with Trina’s, Mr Blacker’s and Mr
Beadman’s assistance. Week 5 Monday saw the end product of the students’ hard work, with the sand being delivered and the students finalising the pit. All students are excited to start using the pit in PE lessons and to begin conducting our long jump trials for students wishing to be involved in the Sapsasa Athletics Carnival in Term 4. A fantastic effort by our numerous student leaders.

Sapsasa Netballand Football Carnival Wednesday August 12th

We entered a girls netball team and a boys football team in the local carnival that was held on Wednesday August 12th.

The Netball team consisting of April, Ashlee, Ava, Grace O, Indie, Jade, Jemma, Karly, Maddi G, Magdalena and Ruby M fought hard all day competing in Pool B against Investigator, Myponga, Mount Compass and
Yankalilla. These girls showed tremendous growth throughout the day, all having a go at challenging themselves and playing in positions out of their comfort zones.  Finishing 3rd in their Pool they played and won against Pool A’s Goolwa in a consolation game.  From there they went on to challenge Pool A’s. Victor Harbor for an overall position and comfortably ran away with the win. Their teamwork and determination showed as they completed the day in overall 4th place!  Well done to the team and a big thanks to Jodie for umpiring.

The football team were placed in Div 1 against Investigator, Victor Harbor, EFS and Encounter. The opposition proved too strong for our team of four Year 7’s and eight Year 6’s, with the boys unable to score a win. Every game the boys dug deep, showed great determination and nearly came away with a couple of wins. Well done to Riley B, Jai, Patrick, Cody, Ryan, Kane, Keilen, Isaac, Brodie, Fin, Malakye and Marlon who all
represented our school well, showing great sportsmanship, confidence and respect all day. Thanks to Brandon and Brett for coaching the boys.
