ANZ Tennis Hot Shots (ANZTHS) Year 4/5 Competition

Tennis SA, in conjunction with SAPSASA, are organising a Year 4/5 primary school competition which uses modified equipment, numeric scoring and mixed gendered teams. The competition progresses from District Gala Days to Region Finals and finally culminates in a State Championship. Teams can be all boys, all girls or mixed gender, need a minimum of 8 players and need an adult supervisor per team.

Our District Gala Day will be held on Thursday 28th September at Port Elliot Tennis Club. All Year 4/5 students have been informed of this opportunity and are aware that they need to form their own team, have an adult supervisor for their team, and nominate to Trina before Friday Week 5 (25th August). If you are interested in supervising a team or would like to help out on the day, please see Trina at school.

Sapsasa Knockout Boys’ football

The boys played on Friday 2nd June at Victor Harbor High vs Unity school (Murray Bridge). Thank you to Paul and the High School again for assisting us with these plans, supplying umpires and for the use of their facilities.

The boys tried their absolute hardest but were out played and defeated. This means we have been knocked out of the competition with no further games.

Thanks to Brett for coaching the team, for running practice on a Tuesday and for being such a positive, encouraging coach. I know the boys learnt a lot. It was lovely to have our supporters there cheering us on. Thank you to all who attended and sent well wishes for the game. Thank you also to Amanda for assisting us there and back on the bus.

Without all these people who volunteer and assist us in Sapsasa events, the students would not get these opportunities. We are very grateful.

Sporting Schools Grants

Last year Trina applied for and received a Lawn Bowls Grant in Term 3 and a Table Tennis Grant in Term 4, which resulted in the students being trained in the skills of those 2 sports during PE lessons, and the school receiving enough equipment necessary to successfully teach these sports to a whole class of children at the same time. This year, Trina has applied for Soccer in Term 2 and Hockey in Term 3. This term the grant will provide the school with more soccer equipment and a soccer coach, affiliated with Adelaide United Club, who will deliver an in depth soccer skills program, with Trina’s assistance, during Friday’s PE lessons Week 5,7,8, and 9.
