Future SAPSASA Events

Unfortunately, we have been “knocked out” of all the SAPSASA Knockout competitions for this year.

In Term 3 we have Year 5/6 Basketball girls and boys teams playing at Morphett Vale, and the local District Athletics Day held at Victor Harbor Primary School. Trials for these events are occurring in class PE times now and in early Term 3.

SAPSASA Boys' Soccer

The boys’ soccer team played their second round game on Friday 13th June at Breakers Oval against Tatachilla School. It was a game played with great skill, but unfortunately, we were beaten by a more experienced team.  Well done to all the players for giving 100 percent effort for the whole game.

Thank you so much to Josh Peters for volunteering to coach the soccer teams, conducting practices and setting up the oval and area for us. You were an inspirational coach to both the boys and girls teams.

Thanks also to Sam for umpiring and to Dan for assisting at trainings.

Without volunteers who coach, umpire and drive, we could not enter any teams into any SAPSASA events. So thanks again to all who assist.

CROSS COUNTRY REPRESENTATION

Congratulations to Jye, Ella S, Achol, Luke and Eli who competed for our District at the Oakbank Cross Country event held Thursday 5th June. All enjoyed the opportunity and had a fun day. We had great reports about their effort and attitude. These 5 students all finished within the top 4 athletes for their age group within our District. They all did their school, and their District proud. Well done everyone.

DISTRICT HOCKEY REPRESENTATION

Congratulations to Hasaan, Muskan, Celia and Dimity who have been selected in the District Boys’ and Girls’ Hockey teams. They will participate in a week long carnival later this term.

Congratulations also to our teacher, Kerry Dodd, who has been selected to coach the Girls’ Hockey team for the District. We wish them all the best.

SAPSASA Knockout Soccer

The girls’ second round game was played on Friday 6th June at Tatachilla School. The girls tried really hard all game but were beaten by a very experienced team. The girls had an enjoyable time and learnt so much about soccer, both during our practices and during this game.

Thanks to Austin and Shanais for being our line referees, to Amanda, Deb and Nikki for driving and a big thank you to Josh for being such an encouraging, supportive coach to the girls. Thanks to Dan too for his assistance at practices.

SAPSASA Knockout Soccer

The boys’ team played their first round game on Friday 30th May at Breakers Oval against Encounter Lutheran. It was a game played with great intensity and wonderful defence. We won 2-1. Well done to all the players. Everyone contributed wonderfully. Our next game is against Tatachilla.

Thank you so much to Josh Peters for volunteering to coach the soccer teams and setting up the oval and area for us. He has been conducting practices at Breakers Oval every Monday at 4:30pm with the assistance of Dan McGivern. The players have all been training hard, which is great to see.

SAPSASA DISTRICT REPRESENTATION

Congratulations to Kane and Dylan for their selection in the District Football team. The boys will play a week long carnival in Adelaide in a few weeks time. We wish the boys well.

Congratulations to Jye, Ella S, Achol, Luke and Eli who have been invited to compete for our District at the Oakbank Cross Country held later this term. We wish you all the best for the day.

Congratulations to Brooklyn for her selection in the District Netball team. She will play in a week long carnival in Adelaide in a few weeks time. We wish her well, too.

SAPSASA Knockout Netball and Football

The first round game was held on Friday May 9th at Port Elliot Primary School versus Encounter Lutheran School . The conditions were less than desirable with very strong, cold winds and drizzling rain. Both teams gave 100% effort throughout the matches, which we are very proud of.

The football was a tough contest, with the score a draw with minutes to go. Our team was reduced to 17 players before the game due to injuries, illness, and players withdrawing from the team for various reasons, but the 17 on the field gave their all and the game was a pleasure to watch. Well done and thanks again to the numerous Year 5 boys who filled in on the day to help the team out for numbers.

Final score was Encounter Lutheran 5 goal 4 (34 points) to Port Elliot 4 goal 8 (32 points).

Thanks to Matt Smith for coaching the boys and setting up the oval before the game, to John Whitbourne for umpiring the football, to the students who volunteered to hold the goal posts straight in the wind for the game and to any other helpers and supporters on the day.

The netball was not as close a contest as the football, but the girls tried hard all game against a very experienced team.

Thanks to Annie Kraft for coaching, to Kerry Lange and Sue Lawn for scoring, timekeeping and assisting at the netball. Thanks to all supporters and helpers on the day.

Well done to Ruby and her helpers for organising the Port Elliot Netball Club uniform for all to wear.

Both teams lost on the day so that is now the end of our SAPSASA Football and Netball for this year.

SAPSASA Cross Country

22 students participated in our local Cross Country event on Wednesday 7th May at Kent Reserve, Victor Harbor. All students tried their hardest and achieved great results. Congratulations to Ella S who came first in her event, to Jye who came second in his event and to Achol who came third in her event. The school finished 4th overall in the large schools competition and 2nd to Encounter Lutheran in the handicap shield (based on number of students attending per school and overall results).

Thank you to Austin, Maddie, Ella and Georgia for their assistance on the day and to all the adults who came along and cheered us on.

Students who finished within the first 6 places in their race will be invited to compete for our District at the Oakbank Cross Country held later this term.

SAPSASA Knockout Soccer

We have entered a SAPSASA Knockout Soccer team in both the girls and boys divisions this year. Thank you so much to Josh Peters for volunteering to coach the soccer teams. Without this support we would not be able to compete in these competitions. The first game for the boys is booked to be played on Friday May 30th at Breakers Oval. The girls have advanced to the second round as we had a bye in the first round. Practices are occurring with Josh at Breakers Oval every Monday at 4:30pm.

SPORTS DAY

Our school Sports Day was held on Thursday 3rd April. Students participated in many Team activities and school events. Congratulations to Freeman for winning the Championship Shield with Commodore coming 2nd and Boomer 3rd.

Well done to Ella S and Kane for winning the Open 800m race.

Congratulations to the House Captains for their organisation leading up to and on the day.

Thanks to our many helpers on the day:

  • Steven Taylor for so expertly starting and organising all races
  • All staff for all their efforts.
  • Michelle Whitehead, Richard Martin and their player assistants (Henry, Will and Joel) for opening Sports Day and judging the march, chants and warm up.

SAPSASA Knockout Soccer ***STILL REQUIRE COACHES

We have entered a SAPSASA Knockout Soccer team in both the girls and boys divisions this year. We are still in need of a coach for both teams. If we can not get a coach we may have to withdraw from the competition. The first game is booked to be played on Friday May 30th. No further organisation can occur until I have a coach per team. So, if you are interested in coaching a team, please see me at school or send a note in with your child a.s.a.p. and I will contact you. Thanks J

SAPSASA Knockout Netball and Football

We have entered a SAPSASA Knockout Boys Football and Girls Netball team again this year.  The first round game will be held on Friday May 9th at Port Elliot Primary School versus Encounter Lutheran School. Matt Smith and Annie Kraft will be coaching. Practices are occurring at set break times. Thanks to John Whitbourne for volunteering to umpire the football and to Fraser Cooper and Jamie Ayris for offering to assist with goal umpiring, etc.  I will be in need of a netball umpire, timekeeper and scorer so if you are available for one of these jobs please let me know. Thanks.

Notes with further information for the players will be sent home Week 1 Term 2.

SAPSASA Netball and Football Carnival

Our local Football and Netball carnival was held on Thursday 27th March at Encounter Bay.  Our 9 netballers tried hard all day and, as a very inexperienced team playing against very experienced players, learnt a lot about netball. Our 18 footballers lost 2 games (both by 5 points) to the two teams who played off in the Grand Final. We won our other 3 games very convincingly.

Thanks to Matt Smith for practicing the footballers, to Fraser Cooper for practicing the boys and coaching on the day, and to Jamie Ayris for goal umpiring all day.

Thanks to Annie Kraft for coaching the netball team and to Karen Robinson for being our netball umpire for the day.

Also , thank you to all the adults who assisted with team management, scoring, cheering, etc. It’s great for the students to have such great support.
